One of the non-orthodox converted-in-travel-blog that I most appreciate is Claudia’s World (O Mundo de Claudia). For now she (Claudia) is in San Francisco, California. Any thing can happen in Claudia’s blog from the deepest thought to the most frivolous one; modern art to a very earthly news flash. Right now she has there a photo of a Medical Dispensary: cannabis is the subject. Yesterday, I watched an “episode” of CBS 60 minutes and I could almost swear that they were there, precisely in that dispensary. It seams that we are in tune, Claudia

Are there nice and cheap hotels?
Let’s camp in the country side?
What about sleeping in the beach with the Pacific Ocean at our feet?
Hotels - she asks? Yes, Sydney Hotels!
Country side? Yes, among the cangurus.
Sleep below the stars at the beach? Why not, we can replace the seagulls with the first sand-print of the day and begin surfing at dawn while the sharks are still asleep.
But do you want to go to Australia?
I want to go to Sydney and revisit Finding Nemo’s final objective. Isn’t it your favourite movie? We can take a boat in the bay, measure the Opera House as if we were about to draw and paint it.
I want to find the secret of success and the mystery of the land. Is it asking too much? I’ll have it all if I go there with you…Say, for the New Year?

No shark, no crocodile, no dingo in sight only a moderate Mediterranean climate, an astonishing mixture of tribes and races in a city full of frenzy and hip.
What do you say? Will you dance with me?

In the last post I was writing about de amazing skylines of the Australian urban centres. But verifying the archives there is at least one missing, precisely the most famous one: Sydney’s.
I think this video I found in Daily motion pays a good tribute to it.

Maybe it’s a thing of the new worlds but I’m astonished with Australian Cities Skylines. In the post below you can appreciate Perth and in some other posts you can see Sydney’s or Melbourne’s skyline. In the picture below you’ll have Brisbane the biggest Australian City in number of inhabitants.

Big buildings yeah, and what about the quality of living? Gardens and more gardens, nicely cares river margins, or coastal beaches, fine air quality and several places to do sports… It seams to be a national competition for the title of the city with the best quality of living in Australia! Some place where I’ve been that sell this kind of image didn’t quite met the standards but other, like Switzerland did.  How about Australia?

There is quite a lot of choice of Hotels in Brisbane and all kinds of different Brisbane Accomodation. Maybe some nearby the famous botanical gardens or close to the river side markets. In the Brisbane region there is also another attraction that is used to receive visits in tits Gold Coast Accomodation.

As I’ve asked: how about Australia? I’ll hope the next sponsor will ask and pay for an in loco review of, for instance, Brisbane.

I’ve written several times about travels and I will be doing that a lot in the next days for sure.

My last trips abroad were almost strictly business and usually to very cosmopolitan places.

Last month I spent some days in Luxembourg, some months ago the destination was Frankfurt. I both occasions I meet interesting people from quite different parts of the world.

One of the most extroverted ones – non latin I must stress – was Guy, an ausie from the western city of Perth.

Since I was a kid, Perth in Australia was one of those places that was highlighted in the world map, like Tromso, far north in Sweden, Santa Helena Island in mid South Atlantic or Tierra del Fuego in Chile. They were far away, exotic and isolated. The years passed and the romantic images of each place followed different paths, Perth was in fact the one I most ignore until recently.

Australia seams to be tilted towards east: Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra are all in the eastern coast. In the South West the map only had (as has) that small black point stating Perth’s place in the world. It has to be a small and isolated town. Mustn’t it?

I guess the next step is to find one of the most interesting cheap hotels and grab the holiday allowance that I’ve been saving and take a tour to the antipodes. Maybe next time I’ll be writing from one of Perth Hotels nearby the Swan River!

Até este ano havia estado apenas poo breves instantes em solo Alemão, além dos aeroportos de passagem dei um saltinho ao norte da Suiça tendo aproveitado para espreitar uma autobahn do outro lado da fronteira por poucos quilómetros. Passagem simbólica apenas.

Há poucos meses estive finalmente por alguns dias na Alemanha, no sul, numa das cidades mais cosmopolitas do país: Frankfurt. Mas para já a sugestão de viagem que tomo também para mim passa por ir conhecer uns hotels in Berlin e outros hotels in Vienna.

Berlim tem para mim um imaginário insular. Ficando bem no meio do continente europeu e a uma considerável distância do mar, para esse imaginário insular contribuiram o Muro mas também os relatos de singularidade cultural que a cidade grangeou naquela região da Alemanha. Berlim é também uma das cidades com um imaginário cinematográfico forte muito por culpa de uns certos e determinados filmes alemães a que tenho assistido ao longo dos anos, de Wim Wenders por exemplo. Não chegará ao nível de Paris ou Roma mas tem uma mística própria que gostaria de ver in loco, ficando, naturalmente, em hotels in Berlin.

Viena, antiga sede imperial, banhada por um dos rios mais humanizados do planeta, vizinha de cidades de beleza invejável que ladeiam o mesmo rio, capital de um país que é um autêntico postal natural da Europa, é uma cidade que tem vindo a gerar uma atracção crescente neste canto distante da península ibérica. Muitos portugueses já ficaram em hotels in Vienna, fosse para visitar exclusivamente a cidade, fosse para circular por Praga, Bratislava e Budapeste. Ora deixa cá ver onde é que me vou alojar.

Já há mais de um mês que não espreito as novidades das mailboxes norte-americanas. Na ausência de oportunidade de percorrer os states em busca de exemplos on site continuo a contentar-me com as dicas do patrocinador.

Trata-se de um blogue que lá terá os seus fins comerciais mas que ainda assim, além de bem montado graficamente, tem artigos interessantes. Por exemplo, este “Strange Cultural Habits in China”.

Recebi nova  encomenda de promover o coupon cheif, um sítio norte americano que é um autêntico repositório de coupon (copões?). Vasculhando o sítio parece-me (parece-me!) que um coupon é mesmo um desconto, tipo aqueles descontos a que temos direito se tivermos o cartão de cliente da empresa xpto ou o cartão de crédito tal. Mas aí pressupõe-se uma relação qualquer que dá direito ao desconto. Aqui o conceito parece ser diferente, o desconto é apresentado per si como forma de cativar directamente o cliente. Você vai ao Coupon Cheif e por lá ter ido pode recolher o código (o coupon) que apresentado no sítio devido lhe dará acesso a um desconto sobre o preço pago por quem não se deu ao trabalho de procurar o coupon. Mas será que percebi bem? Não vai toda a gente à procura do coupon e, na prática o preço não fica igual para todos? Já me estou a preocupar de mais. Vou mas ver se há por lá algum coupon que dê jeito para quando (e se) for de férias aos Estados Unidos. Olha um coupon of hp home store (copões aplicáveis a computadores…).  Vai um coupon?
